Hello again,

I'm bringing up an unusual topic about sousaphone mutes. It's mostly inspired by seeing a photo of Sergio Carolino with his sousa and a huge mute that looks like a big pan.

My question is are sousa mutes easy to get and common? As know for me, I'll stick with the volleyball that I bought a few years back. Works like a charm.

We had a tradition of "borrowing" footballs from opposing teams benches. We would "find" them while we were waiting to take the field for pregame. One tuba player would sacrifice and not play pregame because he had a football in his bell. Sousaphone never sounded better.

The drunks along Mardi Gras parade routes used to supply us with longneck mutes. If they liked us they threw them empty.
