Seems my original post is toast and locked up.

What's going to be the price of the new Jupiter CC?
Has anyone played a production model, yet?

I'm looking to get a smaller 4/4 CC for an all around horn once I sell my 186 CC. I'll still use my Rudy and F for specialty stuff and big groups, but I need a everything else horn. I'll be getting my bonuses (two of them) from the National Guard this month. I have to but my son a double horn (Holton 179) and I get to use the rest for me, well part of it. The wife gets the rest for home remodeling.

That new Jupiter CC tuba looks really nice. I'd love to try it out. Wonder what they will price it at.

Here's a link. Scroll down to the 584 tuba.

I only play it in two of my groups, but the jazz group, we have to mike it. Not a problem, but I could use something a little bigger. Come to think of it, since the Weril is small and lightweight, I might keep it. Might as well have 4 tubas. Another thought is my daughter wants to play tuba, and she'll need a CC when she gets in HS.

Say what?

You have a 186 (which happens to be a smaller 4/4 CC) and you're looking at a Jupiter?

I've never been a fan of a 186 CC. I got it because it was too good of a deal to pass up. Just not my cup of tea. I'm holding judgment on the Jupiter until I try one. It might be a dog or a good all-around horn.

$4,950 at The Horn Section in Melbourne, Florida. They have one in stock. Plays very nicely. Lighter sound but not overly bright. I did not check it with a tuner but it does'nt seem to have any glaring intonation issues. While I definately would not give up my PT606 for one I would not hesitate to recommend the Jupiter 584 to a serious student who wants a good CC tuba but has limited funds.

For the biggest chunk of $5000 I'd rather shop around and get a used Miraphone or something of similar stature instead of a new Jupiter. I put my money where my mouth is.
