On the Leadpipe

The serial number on the valve casing is just for the casing when it is made. When a horn is made using that casing, a serial number is assigned to the horn and it is stamped on the receiver.

A receiver is cheap and easy to change. You may wish to record the number on the casing and file that away with your other paperwork.
