1812 on the 6/4 Holton

I played the 1812 on the big Holton for the first time last night. What a gas! This piece plays up to the Holton's strengths--enveloping pianissimos, power anywhere you need it, singing upper range, agility. The 1812 may be even more satisfying than Dies Irae. I had never played with this particular group before, so that even in the throes of sight reading folks were looking to see which horn was making that huge sound. It was fun to see what it could do at the max. Kind of like running a car on the Salt Flats.

Any suggestions for other pieces to "road test" it on?

JUST IN CASE you're not being sarcastic and were just a bit gullible regarding my over-the-top (yet sincere) recommendation of using "that" tuba on "that" piece...

...I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of any knowledge of makes and models of tubas in the realm of Paul Hindemith...

bloke "...but I do think that a playable-in-tune Holton BB-345 would be the perfect tuba for that particular work."

:D
I actually was not being sarcastic and thank you for the reply.
Although it would be really interesting if there is a piece written for the Holton 345.
