I'm looking for concertos for solo tuba with Wind Ensemble accompaniment, written by composers from the UK. Pieces originally written for band accompaniment are preferred (ie the Vaughan Williams was originally for orchestra and the Gregson was originally for brass band).

Here's a list I put together:
Gregson
Vaughn Williams
Philip Sparke "Concertino for Tuba"
Josef Horowitz "Concerto for Tuba"
Peter Meechan "Concerto"
Michael Brand "Tuba Tapestry"
Darrol Barry "Impromtu for Tuba"
John Golland "Scherzo for Tuba" or "Concerto for Tuba"

Any others you can think of? Any from this list you recommend???

Thanks!

I believe Michael Brand's "Tuba Tapestry" was originally written for brass band and then later there was a wind ensemble setting created. (That was many years back, so the recollection is a little foggy.) I recall that there is a recording with John Fletcher playing with brass band.

It is more a lollipop type of light piece, and therefore I would not consider it to be as strong/substantial a musical work as Gregson, Vaughn Williams, Philip Sparke's "Concertino for Tuba" or the Josef Horowitz "Concerto for Tuba." I do not know the Meechan, Barry, nor Golland works well enough to comment.

FWIW.
