This is primarily a pedagogical text, but I know it has some program-note-type background material and may have the the source info you're seeking. My guess is that SOMEONE in Jackson has this book--if a HS director doesn't have it, one of the colleges will.

The score's $9.00 through Pepper, Southern, RBC, or another sheet music dealer. I had a band play for contest about 15 years ago. Very underrated piece.
