LOUD 'pieces - Screw rim or not?

So I just got a used LM9 which seems like a great mouthpiece.
Only thing is that it isn't screw-rim. I'd hoped to use the 26H rim that I like on the LM7.
The outer profile is also just like the old Miraphone/Tilz shape - nothing heavyweight about it.
No big deal, just not what I was expecting.

On the LOUD website it says "...ALL our tuba mouthpieces come standard with screw rims..." and pictured alongside the LM9 description is a small picture showing the heavyweight LOUD regular profile.

I'll mail the seller also but I wondered what the deal is here; are all LM9's 1-piece non-heavyweight?
Best,
MP

Thanks Scooby!

Sure Joe/Dave will introduce a LM9 screw rim version if enough people want it. I see the LM12 is now a 2-piece - but only two rims available. Guess it's a wider blank...

Either way the LM9 seems like a highly efficient/lively mouthpiece - bit like a stainless Bobo Solo with a little bigger throat. I like it.

The LM-12, which is copied from one of the ponies in my stable, has a *very* wide I.D. (33.7mm). For the wide crowd - myself included - no biggee. Joe was getting a lot of them returned, though, because many folks out there aren't used to mouthpieces being that wide. Dave was able to adapt a screw rim design to the LM-12 to give players the option of something a bit narrower - 33mm.

It's my understanding that in addition to offering interchangeable rims as an option, the screw rim design also helps cut down on material waste in the manufacturing process. Underparts can be cut from smaller O.D. stainless rod than the rims, thereby eliminating the extra 1/4" or so of stock that would normally be ground off and sold for recycling. Not sure why the LM-9 is a one-piece, but I'm sure it'll eventually end up with a screw rim.

Joe hasn't had a chance to update the photography on his site. The current pixx do indeed show the old blank. The new exterior actually has more mass on it than the old exterior, especially down where the cup transitions to the shank. The exterior profile was re-designed to cut down on the considerable amount of time it was taking to buff the outside of the mouthpieces. While all of those cuts and ridges looked cool, they were a hassle to deal with in the finishing process. There's not a heavyweight vs. non-heavyweight exterior, though - they're all just about the same. Of course, I haven't gotten an LM-9 into inventory yet, so I haven't had a chance to compare the exterior to the rest of the lineup.

Joe, Dave and I have bounced it around and came up with an answer... I'm really looking forward to having it... :D Really like the LM9
Is the exterior on the LM-9 the same as the new LOUD exteriors?
