I'm curious as to what "the masses" think about these horns. Individually and in relation to eachother.

I happen to really enjoy the 2182...for it's compact size (i'm a small guy) and small piston valves. It's got a great low end (including the C that was discussed in another post). Very easy to play and quite in tune.

The SLP I really like as well. It has a broad sound and can withstand good volume.

I'm torn between getting the SLP and the 2182...I'd LOVE both..but hey...can't exactly happen.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards the SLP (I found one definetely worth buying) , but I'm just curious to see what people think of each horn.

(I'm not asking to be TOLD which is "better" though.. I'm just curious.)

though, would it be because more people quickly bought the slp's due to hype so there are more out there?? who knows...

Do you think the 5th valve placement aided in that? I did notice it was kinda wide. If I had it tweaked and moved it close to the rest of my hand, would that help alleviate some of th ehand stress?

Yes and Yes.

If you get an SLP, have the 5th valve changed to a 2165 setup. Makes living with "big valves" much easier.

Here's a picture of the setup on my 45-SLP:

I think the stock leadpipe setup on the SLP is awful, too (especially when combined with the stock valve layout). That's another thing that was changed on mine.
