Anbody have the problem of collecting mouthpices. Well I have about 6 mouthpices now 2 of which I use daily. I just bought a PT-36 to go along with my PT-88. 50 bucks I couldn't turn it down even if i really don't need it . anyone?

I know I have this tendency. I'd say the percentage of TubeNetters with this addiction is pretty high.

I bought a kellyberg I have used it maybe 3 times in 3 years.

i own five (six if you count the pt88 that i lent to a friend for the summer) and i use one. i bought the dallenbach for 30 bucks. good buy in my eyes. i still have the bach 2 and helleberg 7b from when i started to play the tuba. i use a mira rose TU27 and i've found that on my 4/4 CC it works quite well in many situations. i do like to have the 88 for larger/lower tuba parts for the orchestra but the tu27 seems to do the job as of right now.

they did. very funnel like. it's more like a paperweight as of right now.

no. actually it's quite small. it's extremely old. i'll try to get some pics and post 'em.

Sorry about the '20 questions'. I've just never seen a Bach 2. I have a Bach 7, a Bach 12, and a Bach 18. I have a couple of old Conn 2 tuba MP's. Send or post a picture if you can.

I probably have in excess of 50 tuba mouthpieces.

I'm really good at buying them but not so good at selling them.

I probably should just ebay the ones I don't want to use or collect.

Tuba wise, I have settled on a Monette 95 for my 983 and an R&S heavy helleberg for a back-up to leave at the school when I play the school's BBb with my students. I also have a kellyberg as it get's stinkin cold here at football games early in the fall. Other than that the rest are beginning to go away.

Euph and trombone wise. . . well that's another story since they are cheaper to come by . I'll be clearing those out soon as well and settling on an SM3 for my euph and a DW 0AL for my bass bone,

So that's were I'm at or at least until another deal comes along that I simply cannont pass up

I dont' know how many I have. Not nearly as many as I have horn mouthpieces. I use the PT64 on the 184 and a DE on the 182, but the PT64 works just fine on both.

When I was on my first several years on horn, I kept changing mpcs trying to fix my sound. Once I fixed my sound via correct embouchure and air I chose a mpc that locked in the notes the best, and have used it ever since (a Lawson.)

I have all of the Bachs, both Conn Hellebergs, 2 older Markies (N1S, N3S), Miraphone TU33, H2, C2 and C3; Gardianelli 24AW and 25. These are my older stock MP's - used mainly with Eb's. I also recently sold a Schilke Helleberg 2.

In the 80's I had Zottola custom make 8 or 9 larger MP's ranging from 35 to 37 MM in inner rim diameter. I also acquired a custom made H.M. White mouthpiece which is huge - 37+ MM with a very deep bowl cup. The White seems to be tailor made for my old Mira 186 with a recording bell. I had Stark copy this MP with a slightly tighter bowl in gold - great MP.

Recently I've been delving into titanium and SS - G&W titanium Bayamo and a custom titanium based on the H.M. White.
Loud 3 with 2 rims, Loud 12 and a custom SS 35.5 MM with an h-coted screw rim (Hauser MP). I bought and then almost immediately sold the SSH (bite was too sharp, cup too small.)

I also acquired both versions of the Dr. Young MP which is a great street MP for my 1291 BBb. I'm really fond of my gold PT88+ although it takes about a 1/2 hour of warming up with a larger MP before it feels comfortable. It's wonderful in the treble clef for me.

If this seems excessive and obsessive it probably is, but switching MP's is a lot safer and more productive (musically) than catting around. In my defense I've been serious about MP's since the middle 60's.
