So, at the risk of making a fool of myself: is the difference then just the outer shape, with the "Classic" having a little more mass from the extra material?

SSH Classic

Hi-
I just received my SSH Classic (Amer. shank) yesterday, and it is tremendous. It seems to handle the extremes better (IMHO-compared to the regular SSH, which I 'A-B'ed' yesterday), yet with a focused sound and all articulations are extremely clear. I don't know if it is the extra weight, or where the weight is distributed, but it is more than just cosmetics. I know some of the original Hellebergs weigh just a tad different--and that may be one reason why some play very good, and others are tremdendous.
Anyway, I highly recommend the new Classic SSH..and..Paul's 'Dolly' mouthpiece pouches are really nice and offer great protection too!
My 2 cents worth.

Question: Is the SSH available with small old European shank (Boosey BBb)?
