For all of the Civil War buffs out there who want to hear a concert or two, the Yankee Brass Band will be touring southern New England next week. We are made up of 22 musicians who play on instruments produced circa. 1860. The are hard to play, but it sure is quite fun and the concerts are great! We are led by Paul Maybery who is probably most well known for the music from Ken Burn's Civil War Series for PBS.

If you can make a concert, please come up and say hello. I will be the younger of the 4 Eb tuba players and my bell points up. The other bells go backwards or face the front.

Great and the concerts are free. The one at Sturbridge Village requires admission to the VIllage, but after you get in...

I encourage anyone in the area to catch a concert or two. They really are something to see/hear.

My wife and I saw the concert Tuesday night (7/24) at the Connecticut Historical Society Museum in Hartford. Really impressive! Loved the overall sound of the group, not at all like a modern brass ensemble. The only downer was that there were as many people in the audience as there were in the band. I don't know if the problem was poor publicity or just plain ol' American apathy, but those who missed it missed a very cool concert.
