If you call Donna Altieri she can custom make a bag to fit.

in a pinch, if you already own a "clamshell" type of gig bag (one where the bell end is bisected by a zipper) such as Reunion Blues, you can use it instead of a special one.

Simply make sure that your bell is firmly attached to the body and zipper the bag around the body, leaving the bell to stick out the top. It works for hauling the blamed thing around on your back.

Paul,
Donna Altieri can make a gig bag for anything, and the wonderful thing is that she generally does not charge extra for an out-of-the-ordinary bag. I have made careful drawings of all sorts of instruments, even helicons, and supplied accurate measurements, and Donna has sent me a bag that fits, every time.

My 36j goes into my gig bag without the bell section, and my bell goes into a sousaphone bag. Its easier on my back and its easier to carry. Since two halves seperatly are lighter AND easier to manage than one large beast you reduse damage potentiel as well.

My two cents.
