I don't know man, I've seen quite a few swaps (Bass T-bone on Bass Tuba music and visa versa) and though pretty good they didn't have the same feel or effect. For instance a bass tbone at my school last semester performed the 2nd mvt. of the VW concerto for his studio performance and though it sounded good it wasn't nearly as moving as it would have been on Bass Tuba. though all this is only my humble opinion. shoot it might work out just fine.

i totally agree. Another similar example is the lebedev concerto. as much as I love the tuba, I really prefer this on bass trombone....
