The mouthpiece that has served me well for over 20 years is beginning to peel the skin off my lips. The rim is apparently full of micro-scratches. Other than replating the mouthpiece, is there a good option out there for less than a week's groceries? It is a 33 cm Helleberg-style cup, and pretty much does everything well. Speaking of replating the mouthpiece, what does that run nowadays?

I have a Tilz/Hirsbrunner 1 for sale. It's in good shape. I could part with it for $40 plus $10 s/h.

What tuba(s) do you play it on?

Whatever I can get my hands on. I haven't owned a tuba for a long time, but have been able to play a good bit this summer. I am really just trying to find out what's out there that is as close to identical as possible, preferably without paying for space-age materials or a celebrity endorsement. FWIW, my last tuba was an old Rudy 4/4. I played on a St Pete this summer, and would buy a 2145 if I could.

PT-36 is identical to the M1 in dimension. The response is a bit less lively than the M1 due to heavier design but the response is also a bit more consistent throughout the range.
