Fedex Claims

I had a tuba shipped to my house a few days ago. Of course with my luck the tuba gets a dent and a crease in the bell. So I cantact Fedex and tell them the situation, that it was dented and it was insured. They tell me that I need to have shipper file a claim, then ship it back to them, there the shipper will need to have the horn shipped out to get repaired and then they can ship it back to me. Ohh ya the shipper is in California and I am in Iowa. assuming it gets approved. Instead of me just taking it in and getting paid.

I'm sure other people have gone through this before, is it always this difficult.

I'm sorry to hear of your shipping trouble. My experience has taught me to never ever ship anything via Fedex Ground. Their claims process is flawed: they don't send a rep out to you to inspect the damage, but instead they ship the box to some mysterious place for inspection. Once a claim of mine was denied because "The instrument was not in a case." There's no arguing with them.

Bastards.
