Since I have neither a bag nor case for my horn, I carry my "other stuff" in a shoulder bag.
"In the bag"-
-music
-pencils and pen
-valve oil
-mouthpiece cleaner (the mi-t-mist stuff, I have let other people try, say, my bass trombone and I feel they'll enjoy it more with my bass mouthpiece as opposed to the 6.5AL they usually have

)
-trombotine and spray water bottle
-rag for trombone slide or mouthpiece cleaning
-pliers

-athletic tape
-excerpts to blast out during breaks and "impress" people

-folding music stand if I need it (not often)
-sometimes a backup mouthpiece, but not very often
-laundry clips (for outdoor stuff)
(in chainsaw case, a Bach 25 and a 6.5AL, just to be safe!)
I keep the valve oil, trombotine,.. in a little bag by itself. I will stick in my chainsaw case if I'm playing that or in my shoulder bag if I'm playing tuba. If I'm playing just trombone, i'll try to fit the music in the case. Unfortunately, it has a smaller case than the current Getzen's but it can still work. On the upside, it also has handles that the current ones don't.
I HAVE carried my folding music stand in my tuba bell with a large towel wrapped around it sometimes.
Two vital things missing from your bag...
1.) Metronome.
2.) Tuner.
My bag has those two, valve oil, mouthpiece, slide grease, and a couple of other various gadgets (the pencil is clipped to the horn).

I just got a whopper stopper Tubatamer today from my friend tbn.al who did me so right. Al was right. this tuba stand is really heavy but worth it when playing outside. I'm gonna haul this thing as much as possible and take my old flimsy tuba stand on the road when we take it all in two cars.
We have a small and a large p.a. system. I blow tuba thrugh one 300 watt EON and just sing through the small p.a..
Thursday we take two cars to Branson, Missouri to play "Phlock at the Rock"-Friday evening for a few hours. This is a major Parrothead meet and boozeup. We are taking three EON's and a smaller board along with mikes, cords and stands,my trumpet case, two guitars (one for John to play and a small "Backpacker" for Chip the drummer to noodle on), Chip's bongos, timbalis and small bass drum with sock cymbal, Kurt's harmonicas along with his percussion and four "Leroy Bags" full of our dirtys and cleans.
We're forced to take two cars these days because no trailer rental has a spare tire and road service can take awhile on a weekend.
We leave after the gig Friday to drive back to New Orleans to play at "Six String" at The Tropical Isle Bar on Bourbon Street or at Margaritaville at six P.M., Saturday. This is an invitation only thing for songwriters. This is the first year John Reno was invited. Each songwriter is allowed one person onstage with him (or her) to solo or help sing. I am honored that John asked me to join him onstage for the musicians circle. He said most of his recent stuff was written with the tuba in mind and sounds better with one.

Let's see: In the hand-held bag I have a wire stand, my home-made rack to raise the music to the top of the folder( 3 sheets across), wallet of business cards, ChopSaver tube, clothes pins, pencils, and my BBStand. I carry the mouthpieces (2), glasses case, datebook, and tuner in the small pocket of the ProTec bag and some music in the other pocket. Oh, and a towel for spit puddles threaded through the D-ring of the backpack straps. No one can accuse a tuba player of traveling light!

Usually a small towel.
An alto recorder.
Two mouthpieces.
The Blistex lemony lip balm.
2L diet cola in the bell.
Bersa Thunder 380 in nickel plate. Fits perfectly in the mouthpiece section of the MTS case.
Sometimes put a tuba in there too.

-Yellow or lime-colored highlighter (my over-40 eyes need help marking out meter and key changes, codas, etc). No librarians have complained yet.
-Bifocals with long focal length
-Eye wetting solution (individual, single-use packets and a larger bottle)
-G&W Bayamo stainless, Laskey 28H, and Mike Finn MF3H mouthpieces
-Two tuning bits. An unfortunate necessity for outside summer concerts because the horn goes very sharp in the heat.
-Long, clear music clips
-Wooden clothespins
-Small screwdriver and allen wrench
-Valve, bearing, & linkage oils & slide grease
-Black, rubber drawer liner (keeps the horn from slipping in my lap)
-Pencils to give to section mates
-Cheap Korg tuner & clip-on mic
-Cup/bottle holder for music stand
-Water bottle(s)
-Diet tea bottle(s)
It all goes in a freebie, canvas carry case with a shoulder strap.

One of the funniest two-word lines ever used in a movie!

I wonder how many people realize that it was Frank Oz (aka
Jim Henson's right-hand man on The Muppet show) that delivered those lines!

so yeah i carry the side bag too (aka ze man purse). But yeah...
-Korg Metronome
-Korg Tuner x2 (i accidentally stole the second from a bass player at my old high school and never returned it....

)
-Rochut
-Orchestral Excerpts (when im bored on a break at rehearsal)
-Tuba MP visualizer
-Bobo mastering the tuba
-Kopperasch
-Tyrell
-Schilke Helleburg
-Laskey 28c
-and a pouch for them to live in!
-That pouch goes in my crown royal bag
-and then my tuners metronome go in my allen edmonds bag
-and both go in my side bag.
and these exercises that dont have a name. now is (do, re, do, ti, do, mi, so, ti, do) all i know is it is from a book that is out of print. so i just have photo copies from my teacher who got them from someone else i think.
ooo and i dont know if any one here does this, but some people i know like to bring a pack of magic markers/colored pencils/crayons to rehearsal to color code everything. i hope im not the only one that finds that ridiculous.

My 25J has no case, and I partly wanted a beater of a horn so I could carry it around without one. It does have carrying bags, but it's not worth the effort.
I carry a tuba accessory bag that contains:
1 tuning bit
G & W Bayamo in case
Image 24 AW (an excellent cheap copy)
Wick 5SE
Schilke 51D small shank
Kellyburg
LED stand light, pencils & pens, pad of staff paper, various music folders, Korg tuner & clip-on contact microphone, valve oils, slide grease, clipboard, post-it notes, eraseable highlighters, block erasers, extra leads for mechanical pencils
On bass gigs I carry a different accessory bag:
computer-grade surge suppressor with long cord
bass stand
several long and short instrument cables
speaker cable
plug-in stand light & extension cord
extra strings, batteries for bass & tuner
pencils, erasers, post-it notes, eraseable highlighters, staff paper pad, clipboard

Funny... I keep a tuba in my alto recorder case. Not much room for anything else, though.

Sorry, but it was a slightly known movie director that made that cameo appearance - Steven Spielberg
See the listing at imdb.com (great sight for movie question answers)

Not that I don't love Blue Brothers rap .... but on topic: I'd agree with those who've mentioned the strapped shoulder bag of some kind and most of the goodies in there. Every so often I even bring my lemon pledge along to tidy up if there's extra time. That's right, the horns STILL have lacquer on them, & I try to get them to look their best. And also don't forget the valve oil & slide grease to keep things running smoothly.
Seems that if there is TOO much more than a shoulder-bagful of things to take along, either there's an extended concert series or it's a horn that might use a little time out in the repair shop. But I also bring the water bottle and tuner and minimum other goodies as well. Am finding that, if I include too many things like sodas, burgers, and pizza, not only does the bag tend to bulge a bit, but I also have to bring along a fistful of ants to chase all that stuff out of the horn afterwards ..... and that problem grows exponentially when 20 or 30 of them come rocketing out of the bell at the big
FFF entrance ...
