I had a quick toot on one when I was in Austria earlier this year. Nice tone, but rather stuffy in the lower register - at least compared to a M-W 2040/5.

I would say it would be fine for a solo/small ensemble tuba, but I would not want to be behind one in a symphony orchestra.

I did not check check intonation, as I was not serious about getting one.

It's true, I do own a Cerveny Eb tuba (model AEB641, which I added a 5th valve to). It's a pretty nice instrument, very pretty sound and quite small. Perfect for light playing. I used it last season for a Brahms Requiem performance I did. I agree with Neptune's comments in that the horn I have is rarely used in orchestra performances unless I'm looking for that "disappearing act" quality that is sometime called for.

For what it is, the Cerveny Eb I have is a wonderful horn and a great value for the money.

Dave Fedderly had one several years ago. I got to play it at Baltimore Brass Company. It was an acceptable Eb tuba. I won't say great. But, OK.
