In performance it sounds much better than the midi he has on the website. It's a cool chart.

Trust me, it's long enough!! Believe it or not, it's thoroughly exhausting to play; mentally & physically, if you dare to play it as slowly as we do. I believe that's on our program for our NERTEC recital...we should have a soundfile of it on our website, sometime...maybe...if not there, perhaps on our Myspace page. Buy it, play it, love it!!! Craig's arrangements are fantastic. Enjoy! Jobey

Thank you, again, to Scott and Jobey for their kind words regarding this arrangement.

So, why did I did stop half way through??....there were a bunch of reasons. Jobey hit on the big one - it is a long, sustained blow and depending on how close to "Bernstein tempo" you wish to get, it is more than long enough. Another reason was simple programming: a 4 minute piece is easier to fit into a program than a 12 minute piece. But, if you REALLY need a Mahler fix that last more than 4 minutes, try my arrangement of Mahler #1 - all four movements abridged down to around 24 minutes in length. (available at BVD Press)
