I just had my first church performance on my new Weril H980S euphonium. Oops, I stained my white dress shirt.

Can somebody recommend a good grime gutter for my horn. Does Yamaha make one for the YEP 321? Would it work on the H980 since it is a clone? Please include a link to a place where I can order one.

I'm toying with purchasing some vinyl end caps from SteveS on www.tubaeuph.com . He had to order a minimum of 240 at 19.4 cents per cap. He said they fit fine. He uses a small hole punch about 1/2 inch above the bottom of the caps to avoid suction when the valves are depressed. He said he would ship 5 of them for $3 per order. try using a bar towel under the valves. just be a bit careful about what it advertises in church...

Hand towel, definitely: solid black for formal concerts where you're wearing a tuxedo, solid color to match whatever organizational color for informal/outdoor gigs, etc.

Will these work with a 4 valve cluster? They look to be make to a 3 valve cluster.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Here is the simple and inexpensive solution.

Step 1:

Cut ladies tube sock at ankle.

Step 2:

Roll foot section of sock and stuff it into elastic ankle section.

Step 3:

Simply stretch the elastic over the bottom of the valve cluster. This works best with a sock with plenty of elastic. Otherwise, it will be necessary to sew a seam on the bottom to keep the rolled up section from falling out.

To me, this is functional, looks adequate and best of all, it's machine washable!

On second thought, I could have used an newborn-sized black knitted cap.

I was having drool problems with my Helicon. I bought a small piece of 1" clear plastic tubing and after cutting it to length, I made a small slit lengthwise and put a little folded up piece of paper towel inside. Then I spread it open enough so it would clamp on to the bottom of the valves. There is enough pressure to hold it in place. I'm quite pleased so far.

You might want to try several different sizes to find the best fit for a euphonium.
