Congratulations to Charles for the fabulous performance of the Vaughan-Williams Concerto last night with the Dallas Wind Symphony.

As if that wasn't enough, he encored with an amazing performance of the Carnival of Venice.

Anybody want to talk about monster chops? Include Charlie.

I heard him play the "Carnival of Venice" back in 1994 or 1995 when Rhythm and Brass came to Pittsburg, KS when I was a freshman or sophomore at Pittsburg State. That was my first up-close encounter with tuba virtuosity. My jaw was (almost) LITERALLY on the floor the entire time. I was both overjoyed (that the tuba could sound so good) and dismayed (that even in my wildest dreams I couldn't play 1/100th as good as he did on his worst day).

I haven't heard him since, but I'm sure he was amazing at the performance you saw.

I was there. I should have introdiced myself to Alex, but he was pretty busy.

The whole concert was about as entertaining as it gets especially for a tubist.

I was there that night (not for the actual perfermance, but for the sound test) He was amazing...my jaw also dropped from his sound alone. I wish I could have stayed for the actual concert though.
