Hey everyone. I'm doine Russel - Suite Concertante for my junior recital and am trying to think of the best seating arrangement for the piece. It's tuba with woodwind quintet accomp. I was thinking a standard ww quintet arch angled so the center is facing in a little bit towards me (in the center of the stage). If anyone else has some suggestions other than that i"m all ears. thanks.

I've only seen it done once, the quintet sat in the standard arch with the tuba next to the bassoon. Putting you "out front" takes you out of the ensemble, to my thinking.
Very interesting piece, by the way. Hope you enjoy performing it.

My feeling is that quintets of any kind should have head and eye contact for both ensemble playing and sight of breathing.
As long as they can see each other (and of course, you) then the arrangement should be fine.
To that end, I'd try not to sit too far in front. One of the beauties of quintet playing is the ensemble.
