A little help from all the tinkerers and repair guys out there:

The Balu Mute I ordered arrived today, but in two pieces (the top part and the bottom cone). I'm positive it was not this way when it was packaged, but that the box was probably dropped in transit.

Does anyone see any problem with just getting some strong wood glue and reattaching the two parts? Or would anyone have any suggestions for a stronger type of glue that would work well, and still look good (which, for a mute this gorgeous, is important!)?

FYI: I would send this back, but I'm sure all that needs to be done is the parts glued back together, and I need the mute for a quickly approaching concert.

Thanks for the advice, elephant. I got ahold of Balu, and he actually suggested exactly what you did (gluing to get through the performance, then sending it back). He suggested super-glue, and it looks like it will hold up fine.

One of my main frustrations with living here in a dorm at college is that I am never around when the delivery guy comes - he just drops the boxes at the front desk and bolts. Now that you mentioned that to me, I may try to arrange delivery times in the future.

I tried Gorilla glue recently on a woodworking project and was disappointed. It foams up while setting, causing it to ooze out of the seam and leaving voids where you want the glue to be. The result is a messy joint that is not as strong as I wanted it to be. Now I have gone back to good old Elmer's for wood joining.
