I have St. Louis with Leonard Slatkin conducting.

The cover art is a bit scandalous, but it sounds great!

The Chicago/Abbado recordingfeatures the amazing playing of Rex Martin. An absolute "must hear". Or there is a box set of Abbado/CSO complete Tchaik. Symsavailable now.

London Symphony Orchestra/Geoffrey Simon on Chandos. reorded in 1982. John Fletcher sounds FANTASTIC. Denis Wick and the rest of the trombones sound as big as a barn, and will rattle your skull. Not sure if its still available or not though. But highly worth it if you can find it.

Another recommendation. I just finished listening to it. Los Angeles/Mehta. Roger Bobo at his finest. He is spectacular to say the least.

That is actually of the original 1872 version which I prefer to Tchaikovsky's revision. Agree with the great sound!

It appears to be available at least from Arkiv music http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/alb ... m_id=61743
