i've been wondering if there is a tuba stand that works but is also functional (the kind of stand to hold a horn while NOT playing). i've seen the hercules. while sturdy, it's not terribly functional and the same goes for king. i've seen the wooden ones at conventions but again, not functional enough; won't store well in a case/bag. anybody have a solution?

Been using the K&M for 5 or 6 years now. It's held up well to road abuse. I velco it folded and clip it to my gig bag d-rings with a couple or carabiners for transport. Don't use the bag it came in.

Since I use a bell mounted mike the stand is essential when I put the tuba down. Never had the tuba fall out of it or had the stand fall over.

I had a flimsy tuba stand thay I used for playing and storage but I was wary of kids easily knocking it over or wind blowing it down.
A Tuba Tamer by Wenger weighs a ton but offers much security.
I still use my flimsy stand for club gigs and it travels better but I store my bell forward King on the Wenger and like it for windy outside venues.
