I saw this group play at Eastman a few weeks ago- absolutely amazing! I can say with no reservations that they are the tightest, most together group I have ever seen in person.

It was on a different level than I even realized was possible- not only were they perfectly in tune, in time, and all notes start and end perfectly together (all that stuff which is easy to describe but very hard to do well), but they were so stylistically aligned. The blend was fantastic, and all dynamics were perfectly balanced.

What really blew me away was hearing them crescendo and diminuendo in that perfect balance and sound- it sounded like someone was just turning up the volume knob on a stereo.

My brass quintet had the opportunity to play for them in a masterclass- very helpful, and the nicest, most down-to-earth guys. A real inspiration for me. If I didn't have classes, I would seriously consider making a trip to see them again.

I heard them play at Eastman. The Ewald was stellar. Go check them out, and make sure to rattle Paul's cage when you see him.

Alex, great to meet you up there. You and the 2182 sound super with the quintet. Good group, keep it together for as long as possible. That Bach transcription is brutal.
