Hey, all. I'm looking for a tuba solo for this years Solo/Ensemble festival, and I've got my eye on Grundman's Tuba Rhapsody.
What has your experience with it been?
Do you have recordings that you could recommend?
Thank you!

Its a piece that I like a lot. It is long and quite repetitive, but it sounds more difficult than it is and its audience friendly. There is a decent band accompaniment available.
I have some of my college students play it for Freshman juries, studio classes, or studio recitals. It is a great piece for building confidence in performing publicly.

I played it with a high school band about ten years ago, and the students called it "Tuba Rap-City" Time for a new piece, I think!
