this band performed at the proms in London this year, I could only see it on television, but their performance was incredble.

This is not a youth orchestra as we know it. The ages run from 12-29. Still incredible, but they are misrepresenting themselves.

Much of the rest of the world has a different idea of youth than the US. It's more a cultural difference than a misrepresentation.

Indeed. The Netherlands Youth Orchestra consists largely of College/University students ;) Same goes for a lot of other top-level "youth" orchestras in this region.

conductor's name

Gustavo Dudamel is the name of the conductor. He is from Venezuela.
