Would anybody care to review this clip on tuner pick up? It plugs into any chromatic tuner with a 1/4" input. It is advertised to isolate your instrument's vibrations while clipped on to any portion of tubing. If it works, it would allow you to check your intonation on any note while playing with an ensemble.

I've never used that specific tuner, but the idea of tuning via vibrations is not a far-fetched. I've used the Intellitouch tuner and it is amazing.

I use one regularly. It works as it says. Very large clip that easily clips onto anywhere (prior to the main bugle). I have to adjust it sometimes to find a really resonant spot, especially when playing with the large ensembles. Perhaps some of the ambient percussion and whatnot is interfering with the vibration of the metal?
Anyway, highly recommended.

Zzounds.com says,
“The TP-2 pickup clips on any instrument and picks up the vibrations of the instrument. It is totally isolated from any other sound in the room. This allows tuning at any time, even during warm-ups!â€

Hi, i know exactly what you are talking about and i bought that same tunning clip and i was thinking the same thing! The pickup works very well, i used it here in long beach in our 100 member concert band. But the truth is, you only need a tuner when the band tunes to the tuba at the beginning of rehearsal. You will go crazy trying to tune every note with that pickup. The whole band is listening to the tuba for and if you notice that you are sharp and you pull-out in the middle of a whole note than you just screwed everyone over. I use the tuner at the beginning of rehearsal and then i turn it off. You can tune all those notes during your practice session! But to answer your question, the tuner picks up very well.

Thank you. That sound like "just what the doctor ordered". BTW, welcome to TubeNet!
