I'm looking to get an old horn of mine overhauled and relaquered, and I'm not sure where to start, does anyone know, websites preferred, who offers these services? First-hand good recommendations are preferred...

Thanks

EH

There are only a handful of shops across the US that perform complete overhaul services. I'm not one of them. I can have it done... but here, I only do general 'play conditioning' where dents are removed, defective parts repaired or replaced, and the horn brought up to where it can be played. This does not involve relacquering beyond just touch-up work. This can usually be done at a nominal cost. There are several levels of what are construed to be 'overhauls' and the prices range from mild to wild. You might be looking a few hundred bucks for a 'play conditioning' to several thousand dollars for a complete overhaul... especially if it involves valvework.

Try Dan at Oberloh - he was recomended to me and is held in high regard in the business. I know that his plate is a bit full now, but anyone you want working on your gear should be someone busy!
