I am trying to help a former student of mine. He needs pdfs of the more recent tuba and euphonium audition materials for the DC service bands.

Anybody have pdf's of either/and tuba and euphonium materials?

To get some really good excerpt parts specifically made for euphonium auditions at the professional level, you should get:
EUPHONIUM EXCERPTS (From the standard band and ochestra library)

It is a wonderful book with all of the pieces you mentioned as well as a guide to auditioning. Hope this helps!

I'm resurrecting this thread, because I am looking for some students as well. Any other places to find these? I'm trying to find Toccata Marziale, specifically.

I like reading stuff unknown to me, so the link for the Navy audition material certainly was interesting. Also because I am reasonably good with numbers. One whole march by Sousa is wanted, repeats and all, which must be a question about checking stamina. And that march has a title so far unknown to me: George Washington Bicentennial March.

How could Sousa have written a bicentennial march for the first president? And yes, it must have been something of the very last Sousa wrote. He only survived Washington 200th birthday by 15 days.

A lot happens in the baritone part of that march. Is it commonly played in the USA?

The GW BiCentennial March is commonly played, it's about as popular as anything else he's written. I first played it in high school, then in college and several times since. It's fairly difficult, with an extended technical passage for low brass.

Sousa even conducted the combined US Army, Navy and Marine Corps bands at the celebration event on Feb. 22, 1932. He died on March 6. As you say, barely 15 days after the celebration.

How appropriate that Sousa should die in March.

That was the opening number of the final concert at this year's Army Tuba Conference, just a couple of weeks ago.
