The Conn 5j is a good 3/4 horn. It is not that big of a horn.

3/4, 4/4, etc/ is a relative measure that varies based on one's perspective and different manufacturers. I think of the 5J as a large 3/4 or a small 4/4, maybe a 7/8? It's larger than most 3/4 sized tubas, but a little smaller than many 4/4s. I consider the King 2341 to be a typical piston valve 4/4 tuba, and the 5J is only slightly smaller in the bows, bell, and bore.
Conn 5J 3/4 or 7/8's?

I have seen the Olds 0-99 classified as a 7/8's horn, and it seems
to be a twin of the Conn 5J.
I own but don't play a junky Besson Stratford, that I would
classify as a 1/2.
