Conn 26K Eb Sousaphone Grand (HORN dorn!)

Here is my Conn 26K Eb Sousaphone. 3 valves. Satin Silver with Gold bell, shiney silver accents and engraving, and some brass parts. It is from 1928-1929 and recently got some great work done by Dan Schultz (Thanks again Dan.) I did a lot of polishing and some dent removal. I just polished it [again] for TUBACHRISTMAS in Chicago.

Yes, people do actually march with them, all the way from jr high bands to strolling Dixieland ensembles.

The bell is about 23 inches accros.

TUBACHRISTMAS might have been the first "real" performance this Sousaphone has played in for 40 years (I played it once for a pep band in my high school) It plays great with a nice huge sound, but I'm pretty sure the 3rd valve should be rebuilt

the low notes do not come out as easily they could be because of that. The tuning is great. The F in the staff seems is a monstrously flat with first valve but, thank god, but with 1-3 it plays perfectly in tune. It also has a few minor problem notes.

The Sousa is available if someone would like to buy it. I would love to keep it, but my band director does not quite allow Eb tubas or sousaphones for some reason. So if you are interrested in it, make an offer.

Unless your band director is a tuba player I would be really surprised he or she would be able to tell visually it's an Eb unless you told them. If it can cover the part sound wise it shouldn't make a difference.[/u]

He noticed that it looked odd compared to my school's Bach so I did told him it was an Eb.
