TubaMeister Christmas in San Antonio(Photos)

We had a really nice concert last Saturday, right on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Although very windy, the weather cooperated(it didn't rain) and we had a great time. I believe we may have had a first for an event such as this. We had a tuba and saw duet. You can see the pictures. The sawist(is that what one would call it?) was Gary Trumet of the Sauerkrauts and I was the tuba guy. We performed Silent Night with each of us taking a verse on the melody, followed by having the audience join us in singing.

Great shots! Thanks for sharing them. While the statement above might be correct in the strictest sense, I believe I will claim precedence here. My first ever public solo performance was playing "Away in a Manger" on euphonium, accompanied by a saw played by a neighbor. This took place at the Magyar Haz in Detroit on December 19, 1959; I still have the program. I'm betting I was not the first, either.

Let me try to be more clear about my claim. I believe we may have had a first at a Christmas tuba concert(i.e. TubaChristmas, TubaMeister Christmas, TubaWhatever@Christmas).
For those interested, when we performed this, we used modified shtick from our usual dialogue when would ordinarily introduce Edelweiss or the Schneewalzer(The Snow Waltz).
Since next year will be our 30th, I am already brainstorming ideas to make that event particularly memorable. I don't anticipate doing the saw and tuba duet again.
