I just recently heard of this brand, but cannot locate a website. Is there one?

If not, what comments do u have of their mouthpieces?

Dillon is the only retailer I know that sells them new. You can buy them from Monette, I believe, and have it customized:

They are quite expensive, but I hear only the greatest things about them.

After playing most of their different models I would describe them as spendy paperweights. (Flame away) To me it seems Mr. Monette did a half-*** job with the tuba mps. For example, they only come in one shank size so if you have a horn like the Nirschl these won't even fit in the horn. Plus I have a hard time seeing how a Bb and a C trumpet need WAY different mps but a BBb and CC tuba can use the same to get there "pitch center" or whatever they say to get you to buy them. My advice, if you want to spend that much money get a G&W or LOUD.

I usually don't buy that different mouthpieces are be-all or end alls, but the Monettes work really really well for some people. Go and try these Mouthpieces and if it works for you, go for it, on the flip side if a 24AW works out to be the piece for you go for that too. I bought my GW's not because they were expensive 'fad' mouthpieces, but because they really worked for me. they just happened to be expensive 'fad' pieces.

I've got a Monette 95 that I use on my Besson 983 and absolutely love it. I picked it up used for less than a new GW or LOUD, which were the other mp's I was considering. I love my Monette and am very happy with it, but I don't know that I'd have spent the $300+ that a new one would have cost.

1. Sounds like you have no concept whatsoever of Mr. Monette's skills, craftsmanship, talent, etc.
2. Sounds like you have no concept whatsoever of the science behind the horns, the ratios, etc.
3. Sounds like the advice of a student with limited experience.

So as not to escalate in to another tedious Monette flame war, the workmanship on Monette gear is top-notch. His mouthpieces, like any other mouthpiece, should be matched to both the player and the horn. For some players, these are outstanding additions to thier bag of tricks. For others, not so much.
BUT - that is the player, not the gear.

So - to say that Mr. Monette is half-assed is not only wrong, but also foolish, short-sighted, arrogant, niave, and immature. But, I digress.

Good gear, try it out, if it is not your cup of tea, you can always turn around and sell it.
