Hi,
The best recordings I have found are the old Six Fat Dutchmen recordings, somewhat hard to find, but well worth the effort. Harold Luaffenmacher(I think that may be the right spelling) was a fabulous player and played on most of their recordings. Also look for the Whoopie John series. I have bought most of mine from www.memorylanerecords.com.
Good Luck.

Chuck

Please reply privately. I have recordings of a Czech band, Blaskapelle Gloria, playing the most brilliant tuba solos. I can mail them to you.

There's a recording of the Budapest Brass Quintet with Laszlo Szabo on tuba with a little ditty called the "Bassisten Polka". Some really wonderful playing there.
