The instructors for the camp will be Mike Milnarik, tuba (Boston - USA) and Roland Froescher, euphonium (Berne - SWITZERLAND).

I just wanted to congratulate Mike Milnarik and Sanae Kanda on the terrific workshop they put together. I was only able to be there for the last few days, but even so, I could tell that it was exceptionally well-organized and the students all had a blast and improved a lot. Endicott has a beautiful campus and overall the atmosphere was really positive and fun due to the diverse group of high school students, college students, and adult amateurs - everyone was really nice and very motivated to learn. Also I had never met Roland Fröscher before - he is a sick euphonium player and I hope he'll come to the U.S. more often. Anyone looking for a fun way to get inspired next summer should check out NETEW 2009!

The workshop was a blast. There was everything you can imagine tuba-euphonium wise, what a week that was! I highly recommend this workshop for player of all ages and levels.

Roland Froscher (the euphonium faculty at NETEW) just came out with a solo album with Naxos. Definitely an album all tuba-euphonium should check out. It is heavenly

I can't say enough good things about the workshop. It was incredibly well-organized with terrific instructors and a really cool mix of personalities. There were incredible recitals, clinics and masterclasses by Mike Milnarik, Matt Brown, Adam Frye, Mary MacKinnon, Patrick Nyren, Dan Hunter and Jamie Lipton as well as concerts featuring a different style of music every night. Roland Fröscher rocked our world and everyone needs one of his CDs. My playing improved, and I have not been so enthusiastic about music in months.

I would recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to improve at their craft and have a great time while doing it. And if you're not feeling so hot about playing, go. You will leave feeling better.

This may seem redundant, but there really are not enough good things to say about NETEW. Mike Milnarik is one of the most inspirational, self-motivated, and hard working people that we are fortunate enough to have as a director of one of these tuba-euphonium events.

Over three years the workshop has been in existence, he has brought something new, different, and somehow better each year. I am a former student of Mike's and this workshop(particularly this year) has helped me grow musically and personally. Mike's teachings, as well as his direction during the past workshops, have been very influential in my development as a euphonium player and as a person.

One can only benefit from attending this workshop next year. Hopefully this will continue to grow and evolve as it has in the last three years to something even bigger and better.

Good job, Mike. and kudos to Sanae Kanda, who does a great deal of work and piano work to keep things running smoothly.

I have to add my praise for the workshop to the posts above. Mike Milnarik's talent, boundless energy, love of our instruments and their music, and his great character and soul made it the wonderful experience it was. I'm not saying this because I'm a student of Mike's. Rather, I'm a student of Mike's because of this.

I have to also praise the other faculty and staff, including three who have posted above (Jaime, Mary and Patrick): they all made tremendous contributions to our experience. We had two piano accompanists (Sanae Kanda and Bonnie Anderson) who had the great ability to make some of us sound much better than we actually were. [And, in Bonnie we had a pianist who actually loved to play the Hindemith tuba sonata (for three different tubists)!] Sanae also composed a number of new pieces. It's great to hear new music that audiences love and want to hear more of.

There were great concerts, concerts, concerts. Some highlights: Mike Milnarik's and Roland Fröscher's solo recitals showed them as the incredible masters they are. The Cosmopolitan Tuba Euphonium Quartet played some GREAT rock'n'roll, most arrangements by Matt Brown. Brass Planet (http://www.brassplanet.net/) put on one of the more stunning concerts I have ever experienced. Also interesting was that Mike was playing tuba in every different evening concert, playing in an entirely different role and style for each.

Mike tells us that next year, the workshop will be called COSMOPOLITAN TUBA EUPHONUIM WORKSHOP. I hope to see many of you there next year!
