Although this should probably be placed under "Upcoming Events" I did want to alert the tuba community of a weekend set of performances and, in particular, the "Beyond the Score" Sunday, March 30, 2008, performance of "The Planets" at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. These performances of (among other things) "The Planets" will have Michael Mulcahy performing the tenor tuba part on the original instrument used at the world premiere performances of this piece. The Boosey tenor tuba is on loan from its owner, Robin Weatherall. His grandfather was the tenor tubist with Gustav Holst conducting when the world premiere happened circa 1918. More details are forthcoming, but this initial news release should be of interest to at least the euphonium/tenor tuba community of tubenet. For performance information, please consult the Chicago Symphony website at www.cso.org . Northern
