ITEC has a quartet competition:

TUBA-EUPHONIUM QUARTET COMPETITION (Gail Robertson, head judge)
(two euphoniums/two tubas)

Preliminary Recording: Tubamobile by Thom Ritter George (Tuba-Euphonium Press) AND Psychedelic Dances for Tuba-Euphonium Quartet by Gail Robertson (Euphonium.com), movements 1 and 2 only AND A selection of the group’s choice (maximum 5 minutes)

PLEASE NOTE: This selection can be an original work, arrangement, or transcription. It does not have to be published, but a computer-generated score must be submitted with your group’s application.

Semi-final Round: Tuba Quartet No. 1 by Patrick Schulz (Tuba-Euphonium Press), movements 1, 4, 5 only AND A light Classical transcription of the group’s choice (maximum 5 minutes and different from the piece recorded for the Preliminary Recording Round) AND A Jazz or other lighter selection of the group’s choice (maximum 5 minutes and different from the piece recorded for the Preliminary Recording Round)

PLEASE NOTE: These selections can be an original work, arrangement, or transcription. They do not have to be published, but three computer generated scores of each work must be submitted to the head judge.

Final Round: There are no repertoire guidelines, selections may NOT be duplicated from the Preliminary Recording Round or Semi-final Round of this competition, unpublished works are acceptable, each group will be allowed to perform for up to 20 minutes, each group is encouraged to treat the final round performance as a community concert and should feel free to introduce works, memorize music, have choreography, and offer verbal program notes as needed. The finals will take place in an open-air venue.

PLEASE NOTE: These selections can be an original work, arrangement, or transcription. They do not have to be published, but three computer-generated scores of each work must be submitted to the head judge.

Also, some regional tuba conferences on the years without ITECs have quartet competitions. Last year's South Eastern Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference (In Cullowhee, NC) had a quartet competition (Equinox from ECU won).

Tuba quartets can also enter as chamber ensembles in MTNA competitions (Equinox won the NC MTNA ensemble competition this past year, too).
