Here are a couple pictures of a valve addtion project that we completed two years ago for an area tuba professor. It came back to our shop for some service, and I thought I'd take the opportunity to show some of our work here. It's a small Teleskop CC. We replaced the valve spatulas, saddle, linkage and added the 4th valve. The original three valves have a 17mm. bore. The added 4th is 17.5mm. (.689").

That looks good. Not 'added on'.
Nice! Ever turned a 2340 into a 2341?

It plays OK for a small rotary CC; sort of like a 184.
We could add a valve to a 2340, but it probably wouldn't be cost-effective.

Ik this is kinda off topic, but about how much does it cost to have a valve added to an instrument?
Yeah..yeah...The water key on the main slide is upside down: The tubing length on an "A"-style Bach main slide is just about exactly opposite (in the comparable lengths of the legs) of what is required for an "H"-style Bach mouthpipe. I try to make a certain amount of $$$/hr. on these sorts of jobs...There wasn't enough time budgeted to totally disassemble the main slide and swap the legs. If he REALLY likes the horn, he can then spend MO' money. Wink
I'm sure everyone looks at these projects from a similar perspective - Part cost/source plus the overall time involved. Something like this is difficult to bid on, though it's easier if everyone agrees with what the wrap and finish will be. I've done several of these, though usually 5th valve additions; PM me if you want more info. But I know there are several of us here who would be willing, and probably less booked up than I (at LEAST through August!).
Mr. Gnagey, nice work!
