Has anyone played on one of the Karl Ziess F Tuba horns? How does it play?
Thanks

Probably something like this one:
Klaus
- I'm only the tuba player, so please don't shoot me, just stick with the drummer!

Doug,
I have e-mailed you about my Zeiss F. Unlike Klaus', mine has no laquer and it does have an added 5th valve. The 5th valve was added by Lee Stofer and is a flat whole step valve operated by the left hand. The horn has the normal intonation quirks and has a better than expected low range for a European rotary F, but it is not the Holy Grail, the low C and Db are still spurious, but better than 80% of F tubas I have played. It is still a small bore F. Great for solo work and quintet and Berlioz/Mendelssohn.
