Loud Metronome/speakers and such

Post by Tubainsauga »

Does anyone have any recommendations for portable (and with the option of battery power) speakers that you could plug a metronome into for ensemble purposes? Specifically working on bach fugues with a quintet as well as listening to rehearsal recordings as a group.

Also, if there is a super loud metronome that you know of, that would also work too.

I'm a big fan of the Yamaha Clickstation. It's probably the loudest metronome that I've heard.

Hey Tubainsauga,

If you're in the GTA, give me a call at Cosmo Music during the day. I can set you up with either the Yamaha or the Dr. Beat.

Both are great metronomes but they're pretty expensive. There are cheaper metronomes with similar functions (between $25-$40) that have a headphone output. You can just feed that into a pair of computer speakers, a portable stereo or an amp of any sort. I've found that those cheapie practice amps ($80-$125) work great!

This is a McAdams on steroids. I'm probably going to buy one for my band next school year.
