I'm booked to play the following next month and only have vague recollections of the pieces - is there anything worth looking forward to??
BBb or EEb??
Bax - Tintagel
Khatchaturian - Violin Concerto
Tchaikovsky - Symphony no.2
Many Thanks

Tchaikovsky 2 has quite a nice tuba part - no doubt BBb stuff.
Don't know the Khachaturian but being Russian most likely BBb. Remember BBb is the standard orchestral tuba in Russia.
Have never played the Bax Tintagel, but heard it's good. Without seeing first I would presume using EEb. Having said that, his 6th symphony worked well on CC for me.

The Khachaturian fiddle concerto definitely has a tuba part. I forget exactly how involved it is (I encountered it many, many moons ago), but my guess is that you won't confuse it with Bruckner's 4th.

Only use what you're good at. Oh..., not organ then? lol!!
You know my answer. BBb. Can you be bothered taking 2?
I have actually done The Tchaik and the Violin thing, so they must have been ok on BBb. Only know the "other" Tintagel, with the big trombone solo in it. Not the orchestral one!

Khatchaturian - Violin Concerto
If you're Carol Jantsch, yes. She plays the solo violin part--on bass tuba. I'm hoping to hear a recording of her performance of the entire piece, not just a sound byte...

You're a lucky man! Thats some great rep. Tintagel has a great part. Which version of the Tchaikovsky is it?
