Besides the many classic solos (Pryor, Mantia, H. Clarke, etc.), what about the Goedicke Concert Etude (for cornet)? It souunds flashy without being too high or too snarly.
"Auld Lang Syne" or "Endearing Young Charms" could be wonderful...so could "Danny Boy". Was the rest of your performance highly modern, raucous, nervous energy kind of stuff? Or was it mostly transciptions, more familiar sorts of tunes?
Is the audience mostly low brass players, mostly musicians, or more of a general audience? (as if a euph concert will bring in the blue haired crowd??
) A younger more low brass oriented crowd will like a technique showpiece; the older will like the beauty; the non-musicians will like the technique too. Best bet--have 4 or 5 different "Lollipops" (to use Patrick's term) ready to go for every concert, and choose one. If it's a true encore, you'll be announcing it anyway.
