Warburton put off production of their tuba mouthpieces for a while after their shop burned. They're making them again. Their web site still says that they're on hold, but they're going to update it soon.

I bought a 28D from their display at NABBA, and it's a great match for my big Conn.

what are the specifics on that 28D mouthpiece. what does it play like?

Warburton is definitely back! I had the good fortune to try 4 of his mouthpieces this weekend at NABBA ( the V50, V88, 26M2 tuba mouthpieces) and the Demondrae Thurman euph mouthpiece. All Wonderful! Now I know what I want for Christmas!

I'm not necessarily the best reference on what a mouthpiece plays like. I have a weak, bright tone and don't practice much, but here's what I think.

It has a medium-large cup (sorry, I don't have measurements; it feels just a little smaller than my Bayamo) that's very deep and funneled. The throat is not huge so it has just a tiny touch of resistance, which is the way I like it. The rim is not flat and has an inner edge that's not very rounded but isn't sharp enough to be uncomfortable. It's easy to do lip slurs on it. The cup adds a lot of resonance to my tone and moderates my edginess a bit. I can pop out pedal tones easily and play a few steps above the staff with increased ease.

I like the tone I get from it, and it responds easily. It's a good match for my 25J. I don't know that I would use it on an Eb, but it's a good contrabass piece.
