I'm looking for a new mouthpiece pouch that will hold at least 2 mouthpieces but hopefully all 3 of them. Any suggestions? I've already emailed DollyBags to see how much it would cost for them to make a pouch for all 3 of them but if you've seen something online or know of a store that sales them already made, please let me know.

I've also thought about making my own.... Since I'm completely new to making something like this, post a picture or two of what you've made to carry your mouthpieces!

Why don't you just get 3 vinyl mouthpiece pouches and carry them in a bag, or your case. Do you know Brad Hughes?.. since you march with phantom. He's in our tuba section here at TJC.

Yup, I know Brad! We marched together in 06, his rookie year at Phantom and my age-out/rookie year. He's a great guy and tell him I said hi (even though he might not remember who I am...).

I have the Cavallaro roll for four mouthpieces - it's OK but I sometimes hear a faint "clinking" as the outside edges of the bowls sometimes touch against each other.

I have a Cavallaro double piece pouch. I carry my CH H2 and Kelly 1-1/2G in it along with a spit rag. It's a very sweet pouch.

My ladyfriend knitted a couple of mouthpiece pouches for me. First one was a little on the large side. They're just bags with drawstrings. She made it out to be pretty easy, but I don't know the details - if knitting in a circle with a "circular needle" or more than two straight needles sounds advanced, then this would probably be advanced, but at least it's too small to take very long.

There are bound to be a few sources of small leather drawstring bags, for various non-musical applications. For example (discovered via web search), shot for muzzle loading rifles.

I suppose it's possible that volatile components of some materials, maybe even leather, could tarnish a silver mouthpiece.

I sewed this bag by hand (before I bought my machine last year) and it works great.



It's a heavily padded drawstring bag big enough for my Dr. Beat, tuner, mouthpiece rim, pencils, pencil sharpener, oils, a few small breathing aids and several mouthpieces in individual vinyl or leather pouches, not to mention a paperback or book of sudoku if I'm expecting a wait someplace.

With the extra heavy padding I just fill it up and toss it in my bell before putting the horn in the case/dent bag. No worries about damage and the flames are pretty sexy.

I use the Pro-Tec Cordura pouches with the hook-and-loop (Velcro) closure. I'm not sure they have multi-mp models but you can check their web-site, WWBW, or the like.

I have a Cavallaro roll pouch made for 4 trombone mouthpieces and I pulled out the stitching then took it to the local dry cleaning/alteration store. They sewed three pockets into it and it's been perfect for three mouthpieces, no matter size/shape/weight of them.

I use a backpack for that....and it keeps my hands free to open the door while I drag the tuba around on a luggage cart.

I use the neoprene Mouthpiece pouch that Ivan Giddings sells. It's big enough to put both of my GW heavywall mouthpieces in.


These Mouthpiece pouches have a neoprene insert that allows you to put multiple mouthpieces in the pouch without them touching each other.

You could give Matt or Davin a call and they can get you all set up without much fuss or muss. It's actually a fairly common item that should be widely available, but the internal and external padding lets you store four mouthpieces ... your three and the one you'll add (soon). Since it has belt loops, it moves where you move, alleviating extra handling and possible damage to your $50 to $250 EACH investments in mpcs.

I put one of these in my music bag.
