I'm shoping for a new mpc and am interested in either the Mike Finn MF2 or the G&W Williwaw. If anyone has experience w/either of these mpcs, I would like some feedback. Thanks in advance. Jason Harris :D

P.S. I really enjoy the banter on the forum- it's really sparked an interest in me to become more serious about my playing. In fact I've joined a brass band at the local community college and am very excited to start rehearsal in Sept.

I am also looking at the G & W's. Does anyone have experience playing on the big one with a 6/4 horn?

I always had the attitude that any mouthpiece will do. I have played on a Miraphone C4 a Schilke Helleberg II and a PT 32. That's it. I have always found the tuba easy and have never really thought about the difference a mouthpiece could make.

Some years ago Custom Music sent me a PT-32 prototype to try. I was playing in jazz and rock bands at that time with my Yorkbrunner and the mouthpiece was great for flying high stuff. Recently I've been playing all over the horn and have found that there is a major difference between the Schilke II and the PT-32. The first time in my 17 year career that I have ever thought that mouthpieces may actually make a difference. Wow.

The Schilke brings out the articulations in the low notes. It allows me to form a shorter attack and gives a better "pop" on the sound. I can't help but think that these stainless steel mouthpieces may even be better.

I'm going to order one.
Just to try it out.
