2-3 fifth valve slide for a Miraphone 1291

It dawned on me yesterday that I learned how to play CC tuba with a 2-3 fifth valve configuration, but when I bought my own tuba (Miraphone 1291), it had the flat whole step configuration. I relearned
Does Miraphone make/have an option of a 2-3 fifth valve slide for a 1291? Or is this something that would have to be fabricated? I'm not looking to make a major project out of this, but if it already exists...
Thanks!

I obtained one for the 1291 BBb thru Matt at Dillon's music. He ordered it from their factory; it arrived fairly quickly and was < $150 IIRC.

How recently was that? (Just curious how far the Euro has dropped since then...)
Maybe I'll drop a line to Matt. Once you had the slide, it was just "plug and play"? Or did you have to get it adjusted for fit at all?

(I'd actually never seen that picture of the BBb slide before.)
The pull on the 5th valve slide is long, but not long enough. No, that same slide won't work, but perhaps Miraphone manufactures a slide that goes up more before it folds back on top of itself?

Well, there's not really a ton of room for slides, so I'm not sure if it even is possible...but then again, I don't design tubas, so maybe someone has thought of a way to do it!

That's a good idea...I've already emailed Matt Walters, maybe he knows more.

...or buy a B&S with a 2-3 fifth valve.

Either Matt Walters or Roger Lewis can work out the details for a 2&3 5th valve through Miraphone. If you want it Miraphone can make it. It may take a little time and it won't be free, but they can accommodate your request. That can be done on any of the Miraphone 5 valve models.

Good to hear! I've heard Miraphone will do custom jobs "for a price." I guess it just depends now what that price is!

We just ordered and sold a new 1291CC with 2-step fifth valve tuning. Since Miraphone builds all tubas to order, it didn't take any longer; I think they're shipping about 90 days from order date right now. They didn't charge anything extra either.

I'm the one who bought that Miraphone 1291 with the 2-step 5th valve and it plays great! They actually shipped both slides - the whole step slide and the 2-step slide, which is cool. I'll probably never use that whole-step slide, but it makes it easier to sell - not that you'd ever want to sell it because it's a great horn!

Steve or Andrew -- do either of you have a picture of what it looks like on the 1291CC?

I can take a photo and post it for you. the 5th slide on the 1291 is very tightly wrapped. I'll take a pic of what it looks like on the horn, and then one of the two slides together so you can see the difference. I'll have them posted tomorrow.

Ok, so I don't know why you can't scroll to see the whole pictures, but you get the general idea....
