Vaughan Williams w/band

Post by Ed Jones »

What band transcriptions are available of the Vaughan Williams Concerto accompaniment? The Oxford University Press arrangement is currently out of print.

Any information on sources for rental and or purchase will be helpful.

Thanks

The Wick arrangement is much better than the standard Oxford Press arrangement, generally because it is not so overscored. As a soloist, you will have a much easier time being heard over the band with the Wick.

I'll be more specific...Bob, have you played a version of the Holst First Suite in Eb for Military Band that was transposed to F? If so, I've never heard of it. Or have you played a version of the Second Suite which was transposed down to Eb? Is that what you meant?
