This is indeed sad news. Shawn (Harold) sent me an email when I was having problems with a certain member of this board. His words were encouraging and uplifting. He offered to meet at the Oberloh booth at ITEC this summer, but that will never happen now. I was looking forward to meeting this man who had such a great passion for anything tuba.

He must have touched many lives much like he touched mine. He will be missed, and his loved ones will be in my prayers.
Shawn is playing York #3 right now in heaven. :tuba:

I've been around these newsgroups/BBS/forums long enough to know that the personality of a poster is frequently not the same as their personality in person.

Some people climb mountains, some people cross oceans, some people drive tow trucks. If Shawn, a very successful professional man, found his life more complete by assuming another vocational role for awhile, more power to him. You wouldn't think there was the same danger in impounding flatbed trucks as in mountain climbing or ocean crossing but there it is... I read the Seattle papers and had been following that incident and am shocked that someone I had corresponded with had been involved. When he found our that I lived nearby and occasionally visited Dan O.'s shop, he suggested we meet for a beer and conversation. I had never taken him up on that offer and now never will.

Godspeed, Shawn...
