Best gig bag for my 56j?

Hello,

I am looking to buy a new gig back for my Conn 56J tuba and was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions. My gig back now is a pro-tech bag, and I absolutely HATE it. It doesn't fit in there right(Yes I bought the right size) and it is as thin as paper. The slightest little nudge, and I have a dent; it's rather frustrating.

I am looking for something possibly with a plastic shell inside the gig bag to protect my horn better, I realize since I have a '20 bell it's going to be hard to find something decent. Plus it is short and fat.

Thanks in advance,
-John

I have a reunion blues gig bag for my Miraphone 1291. It has really thick padding although it doesn't have a hard plastic shell on the inside(I don't know of any of those). I used to own a Protec bag and remember how low it sat on my back, but the reunion blues sits much higher. In my opinion it is the best, but many really like Altieri bags as well. Good Luck!

Cronkite makes a bag for the 56J/King 2341. It has plenty of padding and it fits like a glove. When ordering, ask for the King 2341 model.

I use the Altieri made for 20" bells. It's not a perfect fit, but it works really well and has plenty of padding. Rides high enough I'm not hittin the rim w/my head.

I do realize this Scooby; it's a daily battle on my bell it seems that just sitting it down while playing it it tends to want to flatten out...

Thanks for all the great help, I absolutely love this horn I couldn't be happier for the time being so I want to protect it as much as possible.

Yea Altieri is the way to go. I use one with my PT6 and haven't had any problems. They will make it custom to your horn specs. just be accurate with your measurements, I think they tell you what info they will need on the website. It does take a while but like others have said it's totally worth it.
